Salvation Encounter

Mark 11:1 "What shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?" A young man asks.
John 3:9 "How can these things be (born again)?" "A theologian asks.
Matthew 14:30 "Lord save me." A disciple cries.

All of the individuals above had an encounter with Jesus Christ. They each recognized and expressed their need to Jesus. All three were at a point in their life where they had to admit they were in circumstances beyond their control. Their conversation with the Lord would either prove productive and life sustaining, or they were doomed for certain destruction. Jesus had the answer for all three. Once He had given them His answer, it was up to them to choose their futures and destinies. You and I certainly can identify with each of the situations presented.

The Bible states, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23). The scriptures continue with, "For the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23). This means we are all guilty of sin, and the penalty for our sin is death! For us all, a crisis situation to say the least! But just like each of the encounters noted above, Jesus Christ has the answer for our dilemma. Romans 6:23 continues: "But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.".

To the young man, Jesus says, "Turn and follow me.". To the theologian, Jesus says, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see and enter the Kingdom of God.". To the disciple, Jesus says, "O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt." (Have faith in God). To you and me, Jesus says, "Come unto me." (Matthew 11:28).

Romans 5:8 declares: "While ye were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Romans 10:9-10 promises: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness: and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 10:13 proclaims: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Acts 3:19 instructs us to: "Repent (turn) ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out."

John 1:12 informs us of this truth: "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even unto them that believe on his name."
